Ava King is small in stature but she is big into bugling. The six-year-old from Fruita, Colorado, recently finished fourth in the Pee Wee Division at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s 2018 World Elk Calling Championships.
“I went first and then the big kid went because his dad was a professional elk caller but he beat me but I won all the other rounds,” Ava told KREX-TV.
“You realize it’s not really the norm for a girl six year old and we just love it for her,” said Tiffany King, Ava’s mother. “She said she wanted to do it so we said, ‘Okay, we’d just see.’ We just wanted her to have fun with it.”
And that’s exactly what she did.
