Elk NetworkHunters Show Patience, Free Tangled Elk

General | November 7, 2018

Generally speaking, hunters are a patient bunch. They scout, take care of their gear, sight in their rifles, practice religiously with their bows, and when the time comes they are deliberate and careful in the field during their quest to fill the freezer.

Perhaps it should come as no surprise that a couple of Montana hunters who came across a young spike elk caught up in a fence showed patience in helping set it free. It did not take one of the hunters long at all to release the elk’s leg from the barbed wire but the animal did not immediately get up and run away. It wasn’t until they used a strap of sorts to pull on its leg and dislodge its antlers from the ground that it got up and trotted away.
