Having earned a fine reputation for out-the-box accuracy, toughness, and jaw-dropping good looks, the X-Bolt Speed rifle is a popular best seller. In addition to the standard X-Bolt features like the ultra-secure X-Lock scope mount system, three-lug bolt with 60-degree handle lift, and adjustable three-lever Feather Trigger, these rifles included a number of other sought-after features. The sporter contour, fluted barrel shaved weight and boosted accuracy, a radial muzzle device put the brakes on felt recoil, a composite stock with camo finish resisted weather and provided added concealment, and the Cerakote finish offered durability and protection over a blued finish.

This new X-Bolt 2 Speed builds on the reputation of its predecessor and has already proven itself in the hands of the Browning Pro Staff and members of the media on hunts ranging from the lower 48 to Alaska to Africa.

Like the original, this new Speed rifle was developed for Total Accuracy, with every component working in sync to make the rifle more accurate. The latest version, however, goes a step further by focusing on, and improving the interface between the rifle and the hunter. An all-new adjustable stock, refined trigger, and enhanced receiver assist the shooter in achieving the full accuracy potential of the rifle by optimizing the fit and controls to suit the user.

Having a rifle that fits the shooter correctly is a surefire way to boost accuracy. Proper fit ensures correct eye-to-scope alignment, improves shooting comfort, reduces flinching, and adds all-important confidence. To meet these goals, Browning developed the new Vari-Tech stock.

Wearing Browning’s versatile OVIX Camouflage, the Vari-Tech stock of the X-Bolt 2 Speed is made from a tough composite material and features adjustable cheekpiece height, length of pull, and includes interchangeable sporter and vertical grip modules. Even with three-way adjustment, this new design is lightweight and retains the shape of a traditional rifle stock. Importantly, Vari-Tech is also easy to adjust. The thoughtful design of the Vari-Tech stock also includes additional structure in the fore-end that allows the stock to be modified for secure use with an ARCA/Swiss rail. Rubber overmolding in the gripping areas provides a sure hold even in cold, wet conditions.

An excellent 1-1/4 inch thick Inflex recoil pad offers superior protection against felt recoil. The Inflex design is soft, with a snag-free material on the heel, and engineered with internal ribs that pull the pad down and slightly away from the face for greater comfort.

Like the previous design, the Feather Trigger, the new DLX Trigger in the X-Bolt 2 is a three-lever design. It ships set to approximately 3-1/2 lb. and can be adjusted down to 3 lb. This precision design offers zero creep, zero take up, and zero overtravel for the ultimate in feel.

The receiver, specifically the inside, has been refined with additional bolt guidance surface to offer smoother bolt operation. The bolt is now spiral fluted for weight reduction and features a new triangular knob shape that boosts ergonomics. Like the original X-Bolt, the new Speed uses the same patented polymer rotary magazine that feeds from the center to send cartridges straight to the chamber and reducing the chance of damaging bullet tips. A bolt unlock button works with the easy-to-reach tang safety to make it simple to unload the chamber with the safety on.

The fluted, sporter contour barrel is still utilized. Steel Browning rifle barrels are free-floated, button rifled, and triple checked for interior finish, straightness and air-gauged for uniformity. Every chamber is hand-reamed for precision accuracy and a recessed muzzle crown helps protect the rifling from damage. A removable, radial muzzle brake is included, and the excellent Sporter Recoil Hawg muzzle brake can be easily added to further reduce felt recoil and get the crosshairs on target faster.

One of the most arresting features of the Speed rifle is the signature Cerakote finish on the metalwork. This finish is more durable than traditional bluing, adds concealment, and just looks good.

With variables minimized by a dialed-in Vari-Tech stock and precision DLX Trigger, the new X-Bolt 2 Speed is ready to tackle the high mountains, broad deserts, or hardwoods in search of big game. It is available in 12 of the most popular new and traditional calibers to match the game you’re chasing.
