Grizzly bears continue to push into places they’ve not visited for centuries. An estimated population of more than 700 grizzlies is currently located in the Greater Yellowstone area.
An animated image provided by the U.S. Geological Survey shows Jackson and Cody are two Wyoming cities that now lie within occupied grizzly range while Lander is nearby. Additionally, grizzly range spread to the outskirts of Bozeman and Livingston, Montana, as well as Rexburg, Idaho.
The continued expansion of a healthy, recovered population is another reason why the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation advocates for the delisting of Yellowstone-area grizzlies.
