Two men from Montana pleaded guilty to illegally killing a bull elk in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in 2015.
Leland and Bill Bartlett face combined fines of more than $16,000. Leland lost his privileges to hunt, fish and trap for 10 years while Bill lost his for five years.
“Poaching is really serious,” Bill Koppen, FWP game warden, told the Seeley Swan Pathfinder. “It’s always everyone’s responsibility to look after the wildlife and the resource. Nobody likes the wildlife taking the hit for something that shouldn’t happen.”
The 6×6 bull green scored 348 according to Boone & Crockett scoring. The antlers are on display north of Seeley Lake on Highway 83 at the Missoula County Satellite Office.
